Vampire Lure
New Release July 8th, 2008What makes vampires so appealing? I can’t speak for everyone, but here’s why I love to read—and write—vampire romances.
- Complex. Bram Stoker’s Dracula was pure evil. In today’s fiction, the distinction isn’t always clear cut. Vampires can be good, evil, and all the gray areas in between.
- Sophisticated. A vampire’s long lifespan naturally gives her more life experience, a greater understanding of the world.
- Sexy. Vampires are often men who have an otherworldly quality that makes them irresistibly attractive.
I wrote Battle with these traits in mind.

My vampire is definitely sexy, but I went against type by making her a woman. The story features a vampire villain, but the heroine, Mélanie, is also a vampire, one who does her best to live without harming others. Her long life means she has seen much of the world—so much, in fact, that she’s nearly given up on things like love and trust.
Then Justin enters her life.
He’s human but every bit her match. He embodies strength and humor, everything she wants in a mate. They find each other irresistible, and I loved writing their story. And I’m beyond excited to read all the other terrific vampire stories in the Vampire Oracle series. There’s sure to be something for every vampire lover.
Who are your favorite fictional and on-screen vampires?

Dracula 2000 with Gerard Butler is my favorite vampire. I love the story and Gerard fits the role nicely.
